Looking for history of three ACL passenger cars

greenspun.com : LUSENET : ACL and SAL Railroads Historical Society : One Thread

Hello,

I am trying to track the history of three ACL heavyweight passenger cars that are presently stored in Colordao. Cars are the Pullman sleeper "Columbia College", a diner that was last numbered SCL 991060 and a sleeper that was last numbered SCL 990210. The last two were in use on CSX's Hamlet NC wreck train unil 1990.

Thanks

The Columbia College was built by Pullman in 1916 and was among the sleepers that ACL bought from Pullman in 1948. It was a 10 section, 1 compartment, 2 double bedroom car and was gone from ACL's revenue roster by 1963.

On the other two cars, if you can, look at the upper right corner of the truck sideframes and see if there is a stamped number (or name). ACL and SCL normally stamped the car number there. Post what you find and we can go from there.
