My Text for Sunday Nov 7, 2004

greenspun.com : LUSENET : A.M.E. Today Discussion : One Thread

This is the text I will preach from on Sunday Nov. 7, 2004. How many of you preachers and lay will join me in this? "If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray, and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin(s) and heal their land." 2Chronicles 7:14.

There is no doubt: (1) We are His people; (2) Called by His name (Christians); (3) We need to humble ourselves; (4) Prayer is our link; (5) We need to seek His face, not our own; (6) We have wicked ways, wickedness is the mantra of our land; (7) He hears our prayers; (8) Forgives us; (9) Healing power is in His hands, our land needs tobe healed; (10) His promises are alwayes, AMEN and AMEN.

I pray that the newly elected president of these United States would have the courage to get on network television and preach (YES I SAID PREACH) this text; and then get off TV and lead us by example.

Rev Paris,

I have always respected your posts. I've not always agreed with them, but respect the fact that you seem to be a man with integrity and intellegence.

You have expected much from this new elected president, but to expect him to "Preach", may be out of his expertise. Not that I put any limitations on God, for he can change the mind of a persecutor of Christians and make him an apologetic for the Name of Christ.

There is still a requirement for preaching: And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!

I believe your sermon will be very timely. And I think we all over this country should pray for our leader that God may lead him to be in the forefront of showing humility, seeking the face of God, and repenting. This is the kind of trickle down effect this country needs, if God is to forgive our sins, and heal our land.

God bless you.

Carmen
