Grady Cross Country at the State Meet

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Grady Cyberspace Project - Real News : One Thread

Both the boys and girls cross country teams competed in the state meet this afternoon in Carrollton. It was a very exciting day of racing. After a very cool morning, our teams lined up against the best runners in AA at 1:00, with a bright sun and temperatures rising. The boys put three runners in the top 10 and finished second overall, behind a very strong Lovett team. The girls followed with three runners in the top 14, finishing fourth overall, only one point behind Lovett for third. Interestingly, four of the top five teams in the state are from our region, 5AA. This has been a fabulous year for both teams. We will miss our seniors next year, but have a great group of 9th, 10th and 11th graders to carry on the tradition.

This is the seventh year in a row that the boys have finished in the top 7 at state, and the girls have been in the top 6 five of those seven years. The other two years we just couldn't qualify from our region.

Pictures and trophies will be in the front office tomorrow. Please stop by and admire.

Did you notice in the boys' results that the total time AND the average time for the Grady team were better than the first place team? WOW! Congrats to both Girl's and Boy's cross country runners and coaches for a fantastic season.
