Jugs,

The official word is, "SQL Server 6.5, SQL Server 7.0, and Microsoft Data Engine 1.0 (MSDE) are not supported on the Microsoft Windows Server 2003 family. If you are using SQL Server 6.5, SQL Server 7.0, or MSDE 1.0, and you want to upgrade your operating system to Windows Server 2003, consider upgrading to SQL Server 2000 Service Pack 3 (SP3) or later. Microsoft only supports SP3 or later versions of SQL Server 2000 and SQL Server Desktop Engine (also known as MSDE 2000) on the Windows Server 2003 family."

More details are available at: http://support.microsoft.com/?id=810391

Good Luck,

Eric
