I deeply regret to announce to this community the passing of the Rev. Dr. Alonzo William Holman, retired General Officer from the former Minimum Salary Department. Dr. Holman went home to be with the Lord this past Wednesday night in Charleston, SC. Dr. Holman has served the AME Church was great distinction, having pastored Syrmna AME Church, Waterloo, SC; Cumberland AME Church, Aiken, SC, Bethel AME Church, Georgetown, SC and Mother Emanuel AME Church, Charleston, SC. In 1988, Dr. Holman was elected Secretary-Treasurer of the Minimum Salary Department. It was under his leadership that the Stewardship Seminar was held, along with the publication of the Stewardship guide booklet. His dear wife, Mrs. Gerald Smith Holman, who survives him, served as the Seventh Episcopal District YPD and the WMS. They were the epitome of the phrase "Partners in Ministry."

Dr. Holman's homegoming service will be held Monday, November 15, 2004 at Mother Emanuel AME Church, 110 Calhoun Street, Charleston, SC at 10 AM. Servant of God, well done!!!!
