On November 28, we members of the Catholic Church family honor, in a special way, the following friends of God -- "saints" and "blesseds" whose souls are now in heaven:

Bl. Calimerio of Montechiaro (Italian, Dominican priest, died at about age 91 in 1521)
St. Catherine Labouré of Fain-les-Moûtiers [baptized Zoë] (French, peasant, member of Sisters of Charity, visionary of the "Miraculous Medal," died at age 70 in 1876 [beatified 1933, canonized 1947]) [incorruptible]
Bl. Christopher Wharton of Middleton (English, priest, martyred under Elizabeth I at about age 60 in 1600 [beatified 1987])
St. Fionnchu of Bangor (Irish, abbot, 6th century)
St. Hippolytus of Saint-Claude (French, Benedictine abbot, bishop, c. 775)
St. James Gangala of Montebrandone [also called James of the Marches] [Giacomo] [baptized Domenico (Dominic)] (Italian, Doctor of Law, Franciscan priest, wandering missionary, preached daily for 40 years, died at age 85 in 1476 [beatified 1624, canonized 1726])
Bl. James Thompson of York [alias Hudson] (English, priest, martyred by hanging under Elizabeth I in 1582 [beatified 1895])
St. Joseph Mary Pignatelli of Zaragoza [Jose Maria] (Spanish, Jesuit priest in Italy, teacher, died at about age 74 in 1811 [beatified 1933, canonized 1954])
Sts. Papinianus and Mansuetus (African, bishops, martyred in 5th century)
Sts. Quieta and Hilary of Dijon (French, senator and wife, martyred in 5th century)
Sts. Rufus and companions, of Rome (Italian, household, martyred in 304)
St. Sosthenes of Corinth (Greek, leader of Jews at synagogue [Acts 18:17], bishop in Asia Minor [now called Turkey], 1st century)
Sts. Stephen the Younger, Basil, Peter, Andrew, and over 300 companions, of Constantinople (from Asia Minor, abbot and monks, martyred c. 765) [St. Stephen died at about age 50.]
Sts. Valerian, Urban, Crescens, Eustace, Cresconius, Crescentian, Felix, Hortulanus, and Florentian (African, bishops, defenders of the faith, banished by Arian king, 5th century)
