Marriage

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Catholic : One Thread

Hi,

I am planning to marry a Catholic in a Catholic Church in Luxembourg. That is their state religion of course. Now, I am baptised a Catholic, but I never took communion. Will this cause any problems for our marriage? I would rather not go through the Rites of Initiation.

Thanks

I'm fairly certain (though not an authority) that you have to complete the rest of your Sacremental Rites (Communion- usually around 1st grade. Reconciliation- usually around 4th? grade & Confirmation- usually around 8th grade) as an Adult Catechuman (sorry if my spellings are wonky.)

From what I understand you'll be completeing all of the rest of the rites in one go, so to speak. It usually takes about a year.

And I'm fairly certain you have to do that in order to get married in the RC Church. Ask your local Priest, or whomever it is that runs thier Adult Christian Services Department.

They'll be able to help you much better than I.

Congratulations on your engagment and many happy years with your bride to be. Love, Grace & Peace, Dorian
