Is This Amazing . . .?

Dateline Atlanta - Cox news services - This article states that Bishop Eddie Long, Pastor of New Birth MBC, and Rev.Bernice King, MLK's daughter led a march arm-in-arm to oppose gay marriage and promote a Moral Agenda for the United States. 50 counter demonestrator's marched in protest. The King Center did not endorse the march.

I think this is healty. As many have stated on this board, the black community is not a monolith. I have noticed on the black talk shows here the DFW area, an increased number of black conservatives apparently coming out of the closet and becoming pro-active. This may be a product ot the re-election of President Bush.

I chose not to copy this article to keep the post short but it should not be too difficult to find and verify.

What are your thoughts?

I think that it is hypocritical for Christians to formulate a list of sins like abortion , gay marriage, homosexuality, etc. and use this list to persecute the sinner. It is more important that Christians confess one by one their sins to God, repent and ask for forgiveness. As a Christian, I am opposed to all sin and will pray for the conviction of the sinner by the Holy Spirit and vote for political leaders who are similarly inclined. I won't be marching or joining any public protest against gay marriage even though I am opposed to it.

Forgive me if I do not get overly excited about y'all conservatives locking arms with men and women who just a few decades ago would be on the White Citizens Council to deny you your rights. Who would enact restrictive covenants so you could not buy homes in certain areas, who had no problem with you using the back door. Go ahead and celebrate with those who reflect the ideals of "great" men like Strom Thurmond and Jesse Helms. While you have taken your eyes off the prize in order to gain "their" approval, they are stealing everything from you. Your sons and daughters who cannot find decent careers are now fighting the freedom battle in Iraq and if that ever comes to an end they will move on to Iran or wherever your great moral leader decides to send them. But America will be safe from gay marriage and for that y'all ought to shout.

"List of sins" To say that the state should not sanction homosexual marriage is not proposing to keep anuone from sin but to preserve the institution of marriage as we believe the scriptures teaches us. Not everyone has to understand or even adher to the scriptures in that manner. In our form of government we make decisions by electing our government and giving them the mandate to rule according to the will of the people. Currently, the will of the people is that gay marriage should not be sanctioned by the church or the state.

Be Blessed al paris
