Response to anti-religigious music a sin?

Leaving aside the simple fact that refusal to hear God or take Him seriously is a sin (is atheism a sin? Yes,) lyrics expressing hatred are sinful. Listening and then disapproving or disputing is not. Listening and loving such singing is a sin, as is reading pornography and loving it. Why not use this analogy; they're pornographic lyrics.

In the way Laurent hopes to dismiss the thought of sin, he sets himself up in God's place. He stipulates what will NOT be sin. His list includes innoccuous lyrics, yes. But they don't change the premise. Atheism is not a joke. It will damn your soul, Laurent.

Does the music offend you? If so, don't listen to it. But beyond that, do you think your faith is strong enough to weather the occasional satanic heavy metal song? I don't usualy listen to metal, simply because I think it's crappy music played by posers who pretend to be all satanic because they know that every rebellious teenager who wants to be a badass will buy their records (well, most anyway ;). You want good music, listen to some old Clash, or CSNY, or the Talking Heads...most of the newer rock is all watered-down corporate crap, but there's a few good bands out there. NOFX, Operation Ivy, The Living End, Rise Against, Rage Against the Machine, Jet...all very good bands.

But of course, it doesn't get any better than Bob Marley. He was the man.

But I digress.

I've never heard the song in question, but just from reading the lyrics it sounds very phony, like some band just figured if they put on some black eye shadow and dressed in all black and threw together some second rate lyrics about atheism people would think they were profound or cool. But if you like the music, and you think your saith is strong enough to withstand this stuff, then by all means listen away.

Response to anti-religigious music a sin?

Sorry , I don't like punk music !!

Metal , there are many kinds of metal !! Today , I like more the old hard rock rock stuff from end_60-70-80's !! But I also like some blues & folk & disco , as long it has a good rythm !!

Atheism is not a joke. It will damn your soul

How ??

btw: I only gave you some examples !!

You know , sometimes I even have my doubts about , is it a sin to be human ??

Does the music offend you? If so, don't listen to it

That's also my idea !!

btw , It's true , especially in the black metal scene , I've seen a lot of true "big" posers , painting their faces , and yelling "we worship satan" !! I just ignore them !! Also , I never have loved this kind of (metal) music !!

Or today , new punks , most of them , doesn't even know punk-music was already on in the 60's (quite different punk) !!

Eugene , what kind of you listen or what kind of music you suggest to the people they have to listen ??

On one thing I fully agree:

lyrics expressing hatred are sinful , especially when they have the intention to hurt someone by purpose !!

But what about , making jokes about politicians ?? Or what about humour / satire in general ??

Response to anti-religigious music a sin?

Laurent:
Nothing and nobody but God is ever relevant. It isn't important what I like or dislike. You have no worries about God, since God fails to impress you. FINE; but when the time arrives don't try to plead ignorance. You were warned. He will impress you soon enough, mon ami.

You asked, '' . . . is it a sin to be human?''

Why? Jesus Christ is human, He died on a cross. He is God without ceasing to be Man. If it were a sin to be human, He would never have chosen to be one of us.

It is evidently a tremendous privilege to be human. We stand OUT in Creation. But we sin. If not for sin, we would be glorious and God would be proud to call us fils. Christ came to return us to the Almighty Father. Whatever it takes; even to death by crucifixion. He held us so precious, and we were not worthy.

To write or sing or care for any music which makes God LESS -- and man better; which says ''Religions make me want to throw up, All religions suck,'' is to fly in the face of God.. WHY? He is at the full CENTER of religion. He is HOLY.

He cannot accept this from an impure creature made of dust. It cannot be.

And if it offends him, it's a sin. Not to offend ME, YOU--(what do YOU know?) GOD . . . sees only the sin of hubris and filth. Don't expect forgiveness. This has to result in eternal damnation for someone. I hope you come to realise it.

-- eugene c. chavez (loschavez@pacbell.net), January 04, 2005.

Well Eugene , can you show me proof of real existance ??

'cause , Until now , nobody cannot !! Some people talk about , they have seen a light in their (a) dream(s) , or have seen an appearance , but nobody has evidence of this all !!

Also , I still don't have the answer to:

But what about , making jokes about politicians ??

Or what about humour / satire in general ??

AHH! Yeah I would say if you walk with the Lord and believe He is with you all the time, are you going to throw on some music bashing Christianity? Pure hatred! I know, I was in the hardcore scene. The ones I hung around with hated religon. They stuck to their 10'th grade education and hated America as well. I'm so glad i'm out of that scene. Just listening to the crap that came out of their mouths was bothersome as well. "F**k the world, F**k this, F**k that" etc.

I actulay play gutair and drums, some bass and some keyboards and I am making my own music album. Although it's not hardcore it's I would call, metal. Not heavy metal, just "metal," if anyone knows what I mean.

I would say ANYTHING that shows hatred for Christianity, a mother and father, human beings, animals, GOD is COMPLETLY SINFUL and to stay away from it. Man, if a non-believer can not understand that then that's pretty sad.

Peace be with you!

-- Jason (Enchantedfire5@yahoo.com), January 05, 2005.

Laruent, go to a book store and ask for the book "The New Evidences 1 & 2," by Josh McDowell. I think you'll be surprised on how much archeology evidence there is for Jesus Christ!

-- Jason (Enchantedfire5@yahoo.com), January 05, 2005.

but this lyrics aren't against god eugene, they are against religion

religion isn't the same thing as god

someone can have faith in god but is therefor still not religious

the people that wrote those lyrics have simply a different view on religion than you have, you see salvation in it,they see destruction in it(and trust me they have their reasons to think that)

anyway,

punk is dead

because all the time i see the posers and the fakers, who use punk to be 'cool' but have no real idea what punk is all about

i see people using punk just as an excuse for their own crimes

and i see a whole lot of misinterpretations of anarchy

we were just rebelling but without anything going anywhere...

cool jason

i play guitar in a metal band

They stuck to their 10'th grade education and hated America as well.

Even educated people can be against/hate/despise religion or whatever !!

http://web.ovc.edu/boo kstore/verdict.htm

Well , I will try find it and than scans it in , so I can read it !! But a book is simply no proof !!

In court , suppose , someone is accused of murder , but aslong guilt is not proven , this person is innocent , even he would have commited a crime !! If this was not so , oh boy , the world would be a trash dump !!

The Universal Declaration of Human Rights, article 11, states: Everyone charged with a penal offence has the right to be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law in a public trial at which he has had all the guarantees necessary for his defence.

btw: You can even write disco or reggae songs with violent lyrics !!

Salut & Cheers from a NON BELIEVER:

-- Laurent LUG (.@...), January 05, 2005.

The people who wrote those lyrics have clearly one thing on their mind as I see it, hate! Angry and pi**ed off and blah blah blah. I threw out all the cd's I had with such nonesense.

And I know that even people who are educated hate religon, oh boy do I know that. The very schools of america that give kids an education hate religon. You can be homosexual, teach homosexuality, perhaps talk about that having sex with children fantasies are "normal," but oh no, we have to stop that little christian girl from praying even though she isn't talking to anyone except for God. Send her home, write her a referal, call her parents. No religon, oh, except for Islam, that gets a pass go. Perhaps we are in the end times.

But anyways, I said the hardcore BANDS and people I knew were all about 10'th grade education and hate. Um, you can write songs that are not about hate you know. I can at least and many of the bands I listen to can. Of course when I say hate I am not talking about no violence. I'm talking about "hating this, hating that, and blah blah blah" with a NEGATIVE attitude. I wonder why COUNTLESS musicans are always depressed as well as their FANS. I know this from expieiance!

So Sdqa, you play gutair? in a metal band? Cool, what kind of gutiar do you have? I have a Jackson and I used to be in metal bands. We used to play out and it was really fun. We even won a battle of the bands :) Now I am doing my own album because either the musicians I meet are either pot heads who lever want to progres but just "jam," or they have no ambition. So I decided to do everything myself. Gutairs, Drums (on a drum machine) bass, keyboards, and record it all on an 8 track recorder. Either my wife or my old friend (from a band I used to be in with him years ago) is going to sing:)

God give you peace

-- Jason (Enchantedfire5@yahoo.com), January 07, 2005.

Well it's more than just a "book." Boy, you make it sound like it's a novel that some guy just wrote up. It's archeology evidence, NUMEROUS evidence that greatly harmonizes with scripture. Their are many more besides Josh McCdowell's too you know. In fact, many top archeologist WHO WENT OUT TO PROVE THE BIBLE WRONG have even converted to Christianity because of the evidence they and others have found.

But understand this, no amout of "evidence" is going to 100% prove the Bible or any other acheology discovery. You have to understand the science of archeology to know what I mean. But nevertheless, it greatly supports the Bible instead of the other way around as what many athiest were hoping it would. There are a great many things that harmonize with Christianity, but nothing is ever going to prove it 100% without a dout to a non believer. Our own pride and natural denial for God (because we do not want to change our lifestyles) pervents us from that. But, you do eventualy have to have faith. I was once a non-believer and for a time an athiest, but praise the Lord because now I am a believer and it is wonderful.

God give you peace:)

Two other very interesting scientific books that speak for the exsistence of God are "Show Me God: What the message from space is telling us about God" by Fred Heren. And "The Science of God" by Gerald L. Schroeder.

Just wanted to make one last commet. Once when I was at a hardcore/metal show, the main band was smoking a joint on stage and was telling everyone to drop out of school and start up a band like them. Their lyrics on their album at that time as well as later ones were of course about hating pretty much everything. Ya, that is really good for kids. Nice influences.

-- Jason (Enchantedfire5@yahoo.com), January 07, 2005.

i have some kind of squier(sucks!),yeah almost all the musicians i meet are also d***h**ds without any ambition

well there is certainly some archeological evidence about jesus

but is there really evidence that he's the son of god who had to die for our sins?

and for all the miracles he did

and because the RCC are the ones who had put the christian bible together,i honestly don't believe much of the things written down in the bible

actually the only thing that intrests me in jesus are his teachings, nothing else;no salvation,no miracles,no ressurection...etc

but eventually i think his teachings tell more about him then any miracle

-- sdqa (sdqa@sdqa.com), January 07, 2005.

actually the only thing that intrests me in jesus are his teachings, nothing else;no salvation,no miracles,no ressurection...etc

-sdqa

But sdqa, all that other stuff you say you're not interested in are his teachings.

-- Andy S ("ask3332004@yahoo.com"), January 07, 2005.

Christ's teaching apart from our salvation are meaningless. The only purpose of his teaching, in fact the only purpose for his presence on earth, is our salvation. Christ's teachings without His Resurrection are just the ideas of one more itinerant preacher. There are any number of other preachers who were killed for their preaching. But only one Who rose from the dead. Which is why Paul writes "if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is vain, your faith also is vain" (Corinthians 15:14).

-- (PaulCyp@cox.net), January 07, 2005.

but i don't believe in 'salvation'

i sugget u read 'my personal beliefs' by sdqa

-- sdqa (sdqa@sdqa.com), January 07, 2005.

The question is sdqa, why pick and choose which of Jesus' teachings you're going to believe in? If you believe some of what he teaches to be true, what makes his other teachings untrue?

I think we're getting off topic here. Maybe we should discuss this in your Personal Beliefs thread. I'll move it there.

-- Andy S ("ask3332004@yahoo.com"), January 07, 2005.

One thing that struck me as very interesting was the fact that many NON-Christian letters have been found through archeology. Most are from pagans that lived at Christ time and claimed to have seen Christ though did not understand who he was but claimed he was crucified by the Romans because of his preaching that the Jews despised. They also mention witnessing many of His miracles and believed He was using black magic. They didn't understand who God was but they did see his miraculous powers.

-- Jason (Enchantedfire5@yahoo.com), January 08, 2005.

Jason

Where did you find the information about the letters. I would be interested in this. Thanks in advance!

-- Jim (furst@flash.net), January 08, 2005.

Laruent, what kind of "metal" bands do you listen to? I listen to metal as well. I like alot of music but metal is my favorite. Although mainly the melodic stuff and not the power chords over and over again stuff with cookie monster voices.

Jim, from Archeology books I have. I'll be back with the imfo soon, I have to get them out. But I'm sure it's not hard to find if you search the web.

-- Jason (Enchantedfire5@yahoo.com), January 09, 2005.

which metal band do you like jason?

-- sdqa (sdqa@sdqa.Com), January 09, 2005.

bands¨¨¨***

-- sdqa (sdqa@sdqa.com), January 09, 2005.

Oops, soory guys for not returning your answers in awhile lol. Jim, I have a fantastic book by a Protestant named Josh McDowell called "The New Evidence that Demands a Verdict, Evidences one & two." It deals with so much archeology on the Bible and historian evidences for Christ it's amazing!

Sdqa, alright, the bands I'm into are ones like these: Blind Guardian, Hammerfall, Kamelot, Old Iced Earth (with singer Matt Barlow), Iron Madien, Iron Savior, Gamma Ray, Vinne Moore, Dream Theater, Ice Age, Liquid Tension, etc. But please note, I am not a follower of ANY one of these groups and some of their songs I really despise. But most of their music is so AWESOME in my opinon:)

I used to be into alot of other bands like Slayer and Pantera, until I got sick of Slayers God hating lyrics and Panteras OH SO BORING gutair riffs (no dis-respect to Dimaond Darrel who was shot and killed and may God rest his soul I hope).

I am working right now on my own solo album as well as a trilogy novel I've been working on since the fall of the year 2000.

God give you peace.

-- Jason (enchantedfire5@yahoo.com), February 13, 2005.

what kind of "metal" bands do you listen to?

"Today" I "lost" my feeling for metal , I only visite non-metal concerts (95%) , because of the decibels , I've changed drastic !! Maybe weird , I still do like hard rock from end 60 - 70 - 80 & some 80 metal !! Death metal , sorry , not my stuff anymore !!

Older stuff I was in 4 the music:

Older gore hardcore: Extreme Noise Terror

Old grindcore , like Napalm Death , VNA & Carcass , ....

Slayer , I simply don't like it , 'cause of 2 reasons: The vocalist sings out of tune , and their solo's , oh boy , a terrible "work" !!

At home , sometimes , I only watch music via my TV !! I don't even use / have a CD- or record-player , so I don't even buy CD's or vinyl- records !! And downloading via internet , not interested , it's pure crap !! I prefere live music , in real live concert , but like said , nowadays as good as non-metal !!

Salut & Cheers from a NON BELIEVER:

-- Laurent LUG (.@...), February 13, 2005.

LOL oh yes I 100% agree with you Laurent on Slayer solo's. They are the worst I have ever heard, well maybe Sepultura's first album "Morbid Visions" could be the worst and Slayer the second worst lol.

I'm really into gutair work and melodic stuff. Also technical drumwork and good singing. Kamelot's album "Epica" is an awesome album!
