Never Married Catholic Woman and Divorced Methodist Man

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Catholic : One Thread

I am a never married Catholic Woman in my mid-forties who just got engaged to a divorced man of Methodist religion, also the same age. We very much want to be married in the Catholic church. Is this possible ? Does he need to become Catholic. He is considering this also.

No, he does not need to become Catholic. He does need to seek annulment of his first marriage, if his former wife is still living. If the annulment is granted, marriage in the Catholic Church should be possible. If he wishes to learn about the Catholic faith in order to be able to make a decision about converting, he should sign up for an RCIA series, which most parishes offer.
