Otis MRS

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Elevator Problem Discussion : One Thread

We have an MRS that once it arrives at the floor the doors start to open then close and the car pushes through the floor. It is an intermittent problem. Any help?

sounds like you've got a generator that's overcompounded, the insp speed should be slightly faster up than down with empty car

have you changed vendors for your generator brushes lately ? do you have enough spring tension on your brushes ? are they worn down ? how long has it been since you blew out generator ? the compounding shouldnt change if compounded correct the first time. are your relay contacts in good shape ? how about your suicide circuit ? you should have 0.00 Ohms to ground through it, it needs to be a dead short.

Firstly, is it directional ie. pushes through in one direction or in both - if both its probably not the generator but stopping circut; is it heat related? - check all loop circut connections and tighten. If it has advance door open it could also be the final stop circut and the lift is just moving out of door zone; check the neutral point on the generator; make sure the brush assemblies are clean and tensions correct. As a general rule of thumb Otis generators are compounded correctly at about roughly half the available turns ie. if there ar twelve in total, there should be around 6 to 8 in use. Is the slowdown initiating at the right time - if too late the generator wont be able to stop it in time and will push through. Also check the motor brushes and brush gear. Check all controller relays in the loop circut for good contacts, air gap, wipe, residual plates etc. Hope it helps

If it is compounding and I need to change the series field. Has anyone run into the paper attached to the pecker head cover, with the connections for series field being wrong, on Leroy Somers generators?

You need to relax and take a pill.
