Family Radio says "We must leave the Church?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Catholic : One Thread

Has anybody ever heard of a preacher at a radio station named Harold Camping? He's the president of Family Radio and is preaching and has been preaching that God is calling ALL out of the Church's because they have all become corrupt. Even if there is a good church left, he says God is still calling ALL out and only to worship at homes and not at Church sevices.

I used to listen to his "Open Forum" show day and night so I know how the man thinks. He's a big believer in election, though not exactly the same as Calvin. He believes the Catholic Church is a Church with "High Places" in it. Saying it's under the wrath of God and he's always spiritualizing EVERYTHING.

I guess my question is have any of you heard him before or the station and how he's preaching that we must leave the Churches? Things are really getting out of whack now a days.

The road he advocates is the road to annihilitoon. Making wrship a private afair is nect ot makign it comprimised, lakcign in a unified fornt asint the eorld, and a way for peopel to just not fel liek it, thus causing a fallign away.

Its an insane notion.

LOL! Harold Camping also predicted the second coming of Christ in 1994. He is an independent preacher and thinks a lot of his own opinions. He also regularly calls the Catholic Church "the whore of Babylon". Please don't take him too seriously.

If he read his own Bible in Hebrews 10:25, he would know it is imperative to worship with others in the churches, so we can strengthen one another.

Well I have a confession to make, I used to believe EVERYTHING he taught! I fell victim to his teachings. Praise God I'm now home in the Catholic Church but one of my close friends has remained a full blooded and full time believer and listener of him.

Has any Catholic ever debated him before on issues? Does he even know anything about the Catholic Church?

Well, he does have an authoritative manner of speaking, doesn't he? And there certainly is some good stuff he says: wheat mixed in with chaff. I'm sorry, I don't know if he has debated a Catholic.
