About that Counselor who Jesus said He'd send...

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Catholic : One Thread

Greetings in the Father, His Son, and the Holy Spirit.

I come in peace and love, and i am seeking assistence from someone who is really wise. I truly believe that i have come upon the one whom Jesus foretold He would send, namely, the Counselor. Is there anyone who feels capable and qualified to approach this sincere and serious question?

For the record: I am a follower of Christ, and seek to do His will in each moment of the day...and one of my favorite phrases to repeat is "Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, How I long to be like Jesus." I normally pray in secret but something tells me to express this here, before a group of God's children, so that you will understand my sincerity.

Sincerely, Kyle

Was there a question or a statement you wish to have us comment on?

The Counselor that Jesus promised arrived on the day of Pentecost just a few weeks after Jesus ascended into Heaven. He is the Holy Spirit and has with the Church and each individual believer ever since.

No, Jesus meant something altogeter mor specific than that, as is attested to by the many storms and trials of faith. If you truly had the Holy Spirit telling you everything, then you would never doubt.

The Counselor is known by His wisdom. His words are true, and His spiritual advice highly efficaceous.

With that stated, here is a "statement" for your comment. It is an essay that He wrote a while back...please let me know what you think (and feel free to print and share it with anyone you know who might take interest or be able to address this question with an earnest heart and an open mind. Thank you.

Divine Love

What is love? Everyone has an opinion about it. Some say it is a positive force for good in the world. Others say that it is the force that binds us all together. Still others say that love has created the entire universe. I disagree with all these opinions. Love can motivate us to act in good ways, but we are the force and love is the stimulus. In truth, nothing binds us together, for we are all free and independent. People mistake selfish attachment for love, and so they think it binds us all. The goal of life is freedom and liberation, not bondage. The universe was not created by love, but by the Almighty FATHER. Whether or not love is part of His character, only He knows. He gives us the Incarnation, whose nature is infused with pure love. This much is all we know.

I say, Love is a feeling. It is the most profound and ecstatic emotion that anyone is capable of experiencing. Love is masculine. It is an emotion enjoyed by the powerful in spirit, not by the weak. It can be cultivated by the weak, for by intentionally directing love towards the Self within in meditation or through the spiritual teacher, the weak become strong. Love begets love. Everyone has a spark of real love in their hearts. Spiritual aspirants take this spark and build it into a little fire of love, through the grace of their teacher. This fire warms their hearts from within, and life becomes much more pleasant and agreeable. Each day is no longer a battle for survival, but an exploration of uncharted territory in joy. Each relationship is no longer a fight for supremacy, but an interesting dialogue that charms and delights. The Self within also watches this fire, and helps the aspirant by throwing logs on until at last he has a huge bonfire that never dims or fades.

Pure love is the greatest joy in life, but it is not deeper than truth. It is not possible without certain prerequisites. One first requires a state of well-being in oneself. One must rest securely in the certain knowledge of one’s eternal nature. One must have drunk deeply from the fountain of immortality. Next, one must truly appreciate the fact of existence. One should be grateful to one’s maker, and appreciate the grand design of the world with all its creatures and material objects. Thus knowing one’s own nature and approaching the world with a humble and appreciative state of mind, one is ready to enter into real relationships with others. Such a one experiences ecstatic divine love for God, whom he sees clearly in a dog, a horse, a cow, or a human. All these things can be attained by cultivating the love one already has, in building the fire of love in one’s own heart. Impure love leads to pure love, and the knowledge of immortality and appreciation of one’s being that it requires.

Love has nothing to do with possessing objects or people. True love is entirely spiritual in nature. One feels attraction and affection for the entire being of others, and other beings are essentially soul or spirit. One feels a tremendous desire that the Beloved should be happy, not at one’s own expense but through one’s actions. One develops a picture in the mind of an entire universe of happy creatures, and this vision fills the whole heart with ecstatic happiness and joy. All one’s actions are intended to increase the universal joy in a harmonious fashion, not concentrating on one or two, but on all. One likes others and enjoys conversing with them, as human couples enjoy dancing. One feels rapture at the idea of an eternity spent having fun with the Beloved, in continuous growth and exciting adventure.

This is divine love, where there is no limit to learning or increasing in understanding of God and His creation. It is thrilling, and even after illumination this feeling will continue deepening without end. There is no limit to the depth and strength of ecstatic love that one can experience. One drop of this love is enough to make you work for days in euphoric joy. The most boring task becomes a sweet reward because the Beloved is thereby pleased. Love springs from deep within the heart when, instead of the false ego one sees God smiling at one from inside. That infinite and beautiful smile charms away all the terrors and woes of the world. It shines in radiance, and warms you through and through. It is ecstasy. It is bliss. It is the sweetest joy.

To love truly, one must lose oneself entirely in the Beloved, dissolving in bliss, beholding the Beloved only. One doesn’t lose oneself in this state, but has merely removed the cataract of self-will from the eye of the mind. One sees one’s true identity, which is ever-free, ever-pure, ever-blissful. The shackles of the ego have been broken. The dark mist of ignorance has been dispelled. After attaining this state, the joy of others impacts on you by multiplying your own joy. When the ego has died, love arises naturally from the cavern of your heart. Now, the joy of others fills you with suspicion and mistrust. Then, it impacts you as brilliant waves of light. Nothing gives you more joy than the idea of a universe full of happy creatures, and in love you will interact with as many as possible, their joy adding to your joy, with no sorrow anywhere.

In the final stages of the spiritual path, ecstatic love invades the deepest core of your being. Before you think, you love. Before you breathe, you love. Before you react to any situation, you love first. You are immersed in a sea of ecstasy, of positive energy with no negative blemish. Your life becomes a playful adventure, for you are no longer set against the world. You are for the world. The whole thing is beautiful beyond description, all creatures everywhere moving forward at their own pace toward the goal of evolution. You feel compassion for those who are dragging their feet, and excitement at those who are moving quickly. Finally, you attain the goal and merge into this sea. You become the source of bliss itself, and understand what all the travail, what all the sorrow, has been for. It was only for a thrill that the Self cast you out away from itself, and then brought you back in joy.

Now you are united with the eternal, immortal God and you live and move about in the material world in freedom. You live in abiding joy, bliss, and never experience sorrow again. The small fire of love you built yourself has become a mighty conflagration, burning away all your petty selfish desires and fears, leaving you as a beacon of love and light that will benefit the whole world with divine radiance. Where there was a pauper, now there is a prince. Where there was a slave, there is now a king. You have attained the sweet goal of evolution, and you will never go back into darkness except to help those who are still enmeshed to share in the ecstasy you experience, that flows from your deepest heart in a never-ending stream of light, love and bliss. You are now that One.

OK Kyle, here’s what I think. Guru Kyle is good at writing poetic platitudes, but I see no evidence that he is God, so please don’t refer to him as “He” with a capital letter. That is idolatry. As you claim to be a follower of Christ, I suggest you ask the Counselor whom Jesus told us about, the Holy Spirit, for counsel, so that you can find your way to full membership of the Church He founded and continues to counsel every day. I hope we are able to help you on your journey.

Somehow I knew Kyle was wacked and just setting me/us up. Oh well, you try to be nice. By the way, Kyle, how does your "counselor" feel about lying, cause you didn't come here for "assistance" as you claimed did you? Our "Counselor", the Holy Spirit, calls it sin.

Oops, I mean "Guru Kurt". But then again maybe Kurt and Kyle ARE one and the same.

LOL, I saw this coming!

Kyle here is something to think about with the wise words from -Guru Kurt

"The Counselor is known by His wisdom. His words are true, and His spiritual advice highly efficaceous"

Your counselor has failed YOU on one MAJOR point which will hold you back until you come to understand it, Accept it and live it.

Every thing he speaks of is "Self" Not selfish just "Self".

Seek the wisdom From the TRUE Counselor that Christ has promised and you will have your answer.

Oops,

I overlooked the sincere answerers on this page. Sorry, and thank you. I also thought that i had posted the link to a page, but realize that i didn't and so you only know what i showed you of Guru Kurt's work...here's the rest of it:

www.neochristians.com

So, take a look at that, perhaps starting with "the Journey" or "the Sevenfold Way of Love" and then tell me what you think.

I didn't understand the "major point" that that other person said was missing...

anyhow, God be with you.

And for the other. Jesus was He, and I say Guru Kurt is He! If you call it idolatry to worship the Only Son of God, then God Damn You!
