First District Championship

I have just returned inside after clearing my driveway of 20+ inches of snow. This is New England so we have these kinds of events from time to time. Speaking of events! If you pardon my of topic subject, it is good to know that this year's SuperBowl is a First District Event, New England vs Philly. Its good that Shannon Sharpe is gone for the year. He has been consistent in picking the Colts over NE as well as the Steelers ove NE. He might have picked The Patriots finally giving them their props. It should be a great game. Bro Bob

Congratulations....although I am not a Pats Fan! However, the son- in-law of Bishop and Mrs. James Davis is a member of this football team. He already has one Super bowl ring and it looks like he may receive another one. Being a die-hard "Dolfan...Miami Dolphins that is" it pains me to even cheer those devilsih Patriots!

You know Brother McCain. Sister Brooks is a die hard Eagles fan. Will you be in Philly for Founder's Day?

Thank you all for the kind congradulations for the New England Patriots. As I sit here now, I see the parade on Duck Boats thru Downtown Boston with thousands of fans lining the street saluting the Champs. The first boat has owner Bob Kraft and THREE Lombarti Championship trophys. As I expected it was a great game with both sides exerting 100%. The surprise MVP was little Dione Branch (5' 9", 195#) and he was a delight at his news conference. I some ways, this team is a good model for churches, there are NO big I's and LITTLE U's. Total team effort, consistently throughout the year. Folks called on to play different roles with no grumbling but with extra energy. My Brothers and Sisters in Philly have no shame, it was a great season, dispite the odds. Terrel Owens claim that he had a devine healing but of course, the world mocked him. He was outstanding and showed no affect of the injury that doctors say required 8 weeks to recover. Owens was back on the field, if I am correct, in 5-6 weeks. The season is over. New England has lost Romeo Crennel as Cleveland Browns' coach and Charlie Weis to Notre Dame but "stay tuned" for next year.

My house, Philly born/bred wife and two partisan children are still in a state of shock. I tried to be objective in pointing out why the Eagles would lose given how NE destroyed two vastly superior offensive teams, Indy & Pittsburg. But, like most Eagle apologists my crew reacted on emotion and not logic and honestly thought McNabb would win the game. T.O. played brilliantly but McNabb was reduced to sub-par play and Reid's clock management near the end was simply abysmal. Congrats to the Pats. Oh, how the fate of this team was reveresed by that bogus "tuck rule" called vs. the Raiders 4 years ago :-) Looks like the NFC can't win the Super Bowl without my Tampa Bay Bucs. QED
