My dad

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Beyond the Sidewalks : One Thread

I just got off the phone with my mom. It's official, dad has Lou Gehrig's Disease. The doctor is giving him 6 months- 2 years to live. They're sending him to one specialist to put in a feeding tube and to another place to help him with his breathing.

My computer monitor is acting strange so I can't stay on-line any longer, but I just wanted to let you all know.

Sherri, words fail me. Please know that we are thinking of you and your family. I wish that there was something more that I could do for you.

Thank you for sharing that with us, sherri. I too don't know what to say, other than how very sorry I am and pray you all find the strength to get through this.

Hi Sherri...after all the support that you've given me in the past with my mom's situation, all I can say is that I'm really sorry and please, please let me know if you need anything from me at all!!!!

I gotta tell ya that what's really weird is that last weekend (during our snowstorm) when I called my mom, she had asked me SPECIFICALLY about your dad and Polly's "Pop". I'd spoken about them in the past and she was curious...I guess. Since my mom's prognosis with 95% kidney failure was 2 to 3 years of life on dialysis before death it makes me wonder if some elderly people have "visions" about their future??!!

My apologies to both you and Polly for being morbid...but I felt compelled to share this and that I really thought it was strange!
