about a brazillian healer

-- Luke Juarez (hubertdorm@yahoo.com), February 10, 2005.

I say he's demonic.

He claims the power is of "god" and the spirits.

God is spirit, the Holy Spirit. Any healings by multiple spirits is not of the true God.

He has not mentioned one word about Jesus.

He is not proclaiming the message/word of God, only attributing the "power" to him.

-- Luke Juarez (hubertdorm@yahoo.com), February 10, 2005.

Also, many of the healings are only partial.

-- Luke Juarez (hubertdorm@yahoo.com), February 10, 2005.

My main issue dealt with the victims not understanding what had just happened to them. "Something happened to me." Not once did the victims say that God healed them through faith in His Son, The Christ. The healings were never pointing to the Salvation of their souls. The victims may have had faith in the healings or John, but never did I see evidence of faith in God and His will of Salvation.

We shall hear of healers and miracle workers in His name, but God never knew them.

Did John have to grab those women? I felt bad for the victims. They have missed the reality of their hopes and prayers.

And then they say I need psychiatry help, Rod!!!

Someone mentioned the program to me this morning. He called him Juan.

Good thing I have not yet raised the dead, cured the blind,...

Sounds like Benny Hinn is masquerading as a Brazilian now! Those poor people. I guess there are sheep to be fleeced everywhere!

-- Gail (rothfarms@socket.net), February 11, 2005.

I'm no fan of Hinn, but there is a big difference. Hinn teaches Christ's sacrifice on the cross for the forgiveness of sins, "John of God" doesn't.

-- Luke Juarez (hubertdorm@yahoo.com), February 11, 2005.

Well, that may be, but he also has about 7 mansions at last count, flies around on his own private jet planes, and "prophesies" that Christ himself will appear on stage with him. He also has produced a multiplicity of "miracles" NONE of which have been medically verified, according to those who have stirred him to proof. He has also HAD to admit that when he claimed someone rose from the dead at one of his meetings that it was a complete fabrication!

He may be preaching Jesus, but he is also benefitting greatly by doing so! I don't think it makes him one bit better because he has "used" the name of Christ to fleece His flock.

I have been to Abadiania several times. The center there where John of God works, is a Christian Spiritist center based on the Catholic Church, Jesus, Mary, Saints, etc. John (Joao) is a medium whose body is used by Spirit doctors still working here on Earth through his body. John has never claimed to heal anyone. People often get confused about that as the visible work is done by him. But, he repeatedly speaks to the droves of people there that it is God who heals and the will of God who decides who will be healed.

The Lord's Prayer is prayed almost constantly during the healing sessions on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. There is an English- speaking prayer meeting on Wednesday nights at the Casa and it all reminds one of regular Christian Church activities.

The only thing I had never had experience with in the Christian religion context before going there, was the notion of Spirits living in or coming back to the Earthly plane after death to help cure those who are ill.

But, this, I have learned is a widely held belief system around the globe within the Christian Doctrine.

I, personally, don't think looking for a cure is a very interesting thing to look for. But, some people are terrified of death and are willing to do anything except change and learn to love like Jesus so that life becomes so enriching and full and death becomes just the natural next step in the scheme of things.

What is important about John of God's Christian work is the aspect of surrender. Those who go there are faced with the knowledge that healing is done by God and only by Him; that only through surrender can this healing take place. John of God just gives people a place to surrender.

Surrendering lets people open up to things other than their concepts of what things are really like; the same concepts that have made them ill. By realizing that God is the source of infinite possibility and that releasing illness-producing ideas and thought patterns, healing becomes possible.

They don't mention their Christian ties too loudly in order to make their work more accessible to more people ... They are definitely Chritians and invite people of all faiths there for their work.

It is really worth the trip to see what happens in Abadiania. There is an important meeting of Spiritually minded peoples of all religions and ethnic backgrounds, surrendering to the love of Christ and searching for new ways of expressing that love.

If you ever want to go, I would be happy to assist you. I live in Brazil and speak fluent Portuguese. I know the ropes in Brasilia and in Abadiania and can make your trip much more meaningful and help you understand better what is going on around you. My website is: www.JohnOfGodHealing.com

Don't rely on ABC coverage to make your final decision about what you think. Come to Brazil and visit John of God personally. He is just a man and dedicated to his part in all of this. It won't takew you long to realize that Jesus and the Father are so powerfully present and so obviously intimately involved in what goes on there. Your heart has only to gain.

Just the idea of his name "John of God" is disturbing.

Who gave him his title? Did he name himself, or add the tag "of God" to his own name? Did his ministry name him?

Sounds very suspicious to me that he would even allow that tag line to be added to his name. Just seems wrong.
