Buying a grand kawaigreenspun.com : LUSENET : Everything About Teaching and Learning the Piano : One Thread |
I am a serious classical piano student and wish to buy a grand piano. I would LIKE a Kawai Rx-1. But it is the same price (new) as a yamaha C1 and I was wondering which would be better to get. I was also wondering if a steigerman grand (2002, 5'4") is any good. Thankyou :)

I don't know anything about Steigerman pianos, however in my search for the right piano I found that I liked Yamaha over Kawai.I also discovered that a used grand piano was a huge savings over anything new. I found the savings to be in the thousands of dollars.
Also, after playing many different models I figured out that to really have the grand sound the piano had to be at least 6 foot. Of course this shoots the price way up, plus you need to have the space.
Overall, my opinion is to go with a used Yamaha Grand. The C3 is a good piano.

You could buy either the Yamaha or Kawai. They are both good pianos. Buy the one whose sound and feel you love.
