Granted, the FOUNDING FATHERS weren't perfect and the government has problems but they created a pretty good system of government (in its orignal state). We eventually corrected the slavery issue and are continuing to work out problems today. Though not fast enough for some people. Every government is imperfect because people are imperfect. The less self government and discipline people have the more a government has to apply it outwardly. Don't like it, but that's just the way it is. The Founding Fathers wanted an unintrusive government and at their time people were much more disciplined, self-controlled, responsible for self and their actions. Things have deteriorated since then. All those people you mentioned ARE heros.
